What is a trusted device?

A trusted device is a smartphone that you use with the Luno app to confirm or authorise high-risk actions requested on your Luno account.

For your security, some actions (such as signing in, changing your mobile number, or sending cryptocurrency) must be confirmed or authorised by you to make sure it’s not a fraudster performing the action on your Luno account.

To do this, we may send a 4-digit OTP (One-Time PIN) or an authorisation request via either:

  • Push notification to the Luno app on your trusted device

  • Or SMS to the verified mobile number on your Luno account

  • Or email to the primary email address on your Luno account


Why do I need a trusted device?

A trusted device improves your experience by enabling Luno to send security requests directly to the Luno app on your smartphone via push notification - instead of sending them to you via SMS or Email.

What devices can be trusted?

Any smartphone that you use to access your Luno account with the Luno app, can be added as a trusted device.


How do I trust my devices?

  1. Ensure you’re using the latest version of the Luno app and sign in

  2. Under your Profile section, select Security

  3. Go to Devices

  4. Choose the device you want to trust and select Trust device

  5. Authorise this action by following the link in the SMS

Mission success! Your device will be trusted to receive all future security requests via push notification.


How do I remove my trusted devices?

  1. Under your Profile section, select Security

  2. Go to Devices

  3. Choose the trusted device you want to remove and select REMOVE

Mission success! Your trusted device will be removed and will no longer receive security requests via push notification.


Note:

Authorisation is not required to remove a trusted device.
